SALTMINE Theatre company presents

The Chainbreakers

On

Thursday 16th October

Wellington Methodist Church at 7.00pm 

Two hundred years ago the British were the world’s leaders in the slave trade.

‘The  Chainbreakers’ is a fast paced journey through the turbulent history of the  battle for abolition of slavery. Brought to the stage by  the  writers  and

performers of  the  Saltmine Creative Arts, this production is presented in support of the ‘Stop  the  Traffik‘ campaign.

Admission is by ticket only and these are available from Wellington Civic Office.

There are only a limited number of tickets so get yours now.

 

Building Fund News 

The Mystery Trip will be on the afternoon of Sunday 14th September. Please sign your name on the list if you are coming.

Thanks to all those Box Collectors who Gift Aid their contribution I have been able to send £63 to N.C.H  Headquarters as a result of the Tax rebate recently received.

It would be good to hear from those running week to week groups within the church  of  their  activities  and achievements besides those items  already submitted for inclusion

Peter & Sue would like to thank everyone who came to their coffee evening on Wednesday, especially to the willing band of helpers.  A total of £123.11 was raised for the Building Fund.

 

P.S A brown umbrella with a ‘Rosetti’ logo was left behind - it’s in the   church   office ready for collection- you’ll no doubt need it before long!!!!

 

Food For Thought 

Please note there will be no Food for Thought on Thursday 28th August but will be back on 4th September when it will be led by Rev Rosemary Freeman 

Home Missions 

On Saturday August 30th there will be a coffee morning in aid of Home Missions.  Gifts of cakes Bric a Brac or books will be appreciated.

Computers for the Terrified 

If you would be interested in attending a Computers for the terrified course or another kind of computer course here at church, would you please let me know as soon as possible.  There is a possibility that TCAT may be able to run one or more courses for us here at church but I need some idea of how many people would be interested.

Gift Aid 

In the Tax Year 2007 - 2008 we claimed over £6,000 in rebates from the Inland Revenue.

What a wonderful result!

Prayer Handbook 2008/9

Living Fire 

Copies of the new Prayer Handbook are now available from Barbara Murray price £2.75.  This is an excellent handy book of daily prayer which can be used for personal prayer or for use on other occasions such as meetings.
