Prayer for Today
Lord may the doors of our homes be wide enough to receive those in need; and narrow enough to shut out all envy and pride. May each threshold be smooth enough to provide no stumbling block to children or straying feet. Let the entrance be rugged and strong enough to turn back the tempter’s power. May those who enter find the gateway to your eternal kingdom. Amen

If you hold a world church box I would be grateful if you could hand it in to me for emptying over the next few weeks. I would also be pleased to receive any donations from people who do not hold boxes but would like to contribute, to add to the funds.
On Thursday 11th September there will be a special meeting at Oakengates United Church at 7.30 pm which will be an opportunity for the young people from the circuit who have been to Rwanda to share with us. Please put this date in your diaries.

The Chainbreakers
On Thursday 16th October here at
Wellington Methodist Church at 7.00pm
Two hundred years ago the British were the world’s leaders in the slave trade. The fight to abolish this horrific practice is a gripping story of persistence, self sacrifice and courage. From the trading cities of Liverpool and Bristol and the hallowed chambers of the House of Commons to the fiery hell of the Jamaican slave rebellion ‘The Chainbreakers’ is a fast paced journey through the turbulent history of the battle for abolition. Brought to the stage by the writers and performers of the Saltmine Creative Arts, this production is presented in support of the ‘Stop the Traffik‘ campaign.
Admission is by ticket only and these are available from Wellington Civic Office. There are only a limited number of tickets so get yours now.
Holiday Cleaning
During the school holidays we have no cleaners in the building and so we would be grateful for your help.
It would be helpful if I could have a rota of people if possible who could help after the coffee morning each Saturday to make sure the building is clean and fresh for Sunday. Please sign the list on the notice board if you can help. So far I have no volunteers.
This is also a good time to do some extra cleaning so I plan to have a cleaning morning on Wednesday 23rd July starting at 9.30am for those who can help. If you can’t help on Wednesday but are willing to help at another time please get in touch.
Many thanks
Barbara
