An insight into the distribution of Shoeboxes
Last week Elaine and Darren Valentine were invited to take a look round a Samaritan's Purse distribution warehouse in Kidderminster which was being used as a centre for all the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes in the West Midlands. The warehouse was donated to Samaritan’s Purse for just four weeks. The boxes would come in and be checked. Any contents that were not allowed such as liquids, out of date sweets, anything war related were removed and replaced with things like crayons or toothbrushes. The boxes were then secured with tape, packed into crates and loaded onto transport. Teams of volunteers worked from 9 in the morning till 9 at night ensuring that it all ran smoothly.
"It was an amazing sight to see the thousands of shoeboxes all wrapped and stacked ready to go out."
Six countries across Eastern Europe will receive deliveries with teams of volunteers flying out soon afterwards to personally hand out the boxes of presents to children in orphanages, schools and hospitals. The first team leave for Serbia on 7th December but Elaine and Darren are not due to go to Kosova until 4th January.
This year our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day collections are in aid of KIP. This is a local charity run by the Salvation Army based at Tan Bank and its aim is to give sympathetic and practical help and advice to the growing number of homeless within the Telford and Wrekin area.
Please be as generous as you feel able and for those who wish to Gift Aid their donations envelopes are available either from me or the Stewards.

Girls Brigade
I would like to thank everybody for their continued support of the Girls Brigade here at Wellington. Last Sunday saw our Annual Enrolment Service and the dedication of our new colours. This was made possible by a grant from Wellington Town Council and donations from friends and family at social events over the past year. Once again thanks to everybody for their support.

Thought for the Week
One day has left its mark in time for all mankind to see it is the day when Christ was born that day made history.
