The Guild

Has always been generous in supporting health and educational projects in lands less fortunate than our own, such as the leprosy hospital and school at Uzuakoli in Nigeria.

The latest addition to our overseas aid programme concerns the Conakry Refugee School in Guinea, West Africa.  Its pupils are all refugee children from war-torn Sierra Leone and Liberia.

The only income the school receives is from School fees.  The pupils are asked to pay a meagre £1 per month and often this is impossible which means that many refugee children get no education at all.

The “Friends of the Conakry Refugee School” are most grateful for the proceeds of the Guild coffee morning held on Saturday 7th June which amounted to £139.86.  Further efforts will be held in the future.

In the meantime any private gifts will be gratefully received and

Acknowledged by Ann Hallam, 16 Paddock Close (Tel 242133).

Many thanks
