Annual Church Meeting

Our Annual Church meeting will be held on Thursday 15th May

At 7.30 p.m. Everyone Welcome.

Mrs Marjorie Foulkes

With the death of Marjorie at 95 we have lost one of our oldest members. A life-long Methodist she was a member first at Tan Bank where for some years she and her late husband Norman were caretakers living in Chapel House.

Although unable to come to Church in latter years she maintained her interest and was always pleased to have visitors and know what was going on.

To her family we offer our love, prayers and deepest sympathy.  Like them, we will remember her with affection and give thanks for every remembrance of her.

Tribute to Brian Whittaker

It was my privilege to have known Brian all my life.  I went to School, Sunday School and Youth Club at Tan Bank, and also on holiday with him.

Throughout his life, Brian struggled with ill health, but it never stopped him achieving his goals.  At school he was always top of the class and his academic learning took him into accounting.

As a young man he became ‘Trust Treasurer’ at Tan Bank, one of the youngest at that time in the Connexion.

He moved to pursue his career, and later returned to Wellington with his wife Alice.  I hesitate to say retire, because Brian did not retire.

He not only continued with his accounting, but also became a pastoral leader, joined the friendship club,  started  to  research  his  family  history, and took up Tai Chi. Brian was a quiet , unassuming, modest Christian gentleman and loyal church member who, I for one will sadly miss.

We offer our condolences and thoughts to Alice, his brothers Alan and Terry, and his sister Sheila.

Brian it was a pleasure to know you.

Chairs..chairs..chairs

Every week we have to move chairs around and I would be very grateful if more people could help with this.  Sometimes we have to put out chairs for groups for meetings and for funerals and it would be helpful if I could have the phone numbers of people I could ask for help in the case of emergencies.  Thank you to all those who do help on Saturdays after the coffee morning, Sundays and during the week.  If you can help me please get in touch.  Thank you
