Covenant Service 14 January 2007

On Sunday 14 January we shall be holding our annual covenant service.  This is a special occasion in the Methodist year and we do hope that as many people as possible will support this service.  There will be a shared lunch following the service.  We hope as many people as possible will stay for lunch.  If you are unsure what kind of food to bring please see Barbara Murray.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO SOUP LUNCH THIS SUNDAY AS WE WILL BE HAVING LUNCH FOLLOWING THE COVENANT SERVICE

Bethlehem No Room for Peace 

The  pilgrimage to  Bethlehem made just before Christmas by the four Presidents   of  Churches  Together  in   England  -  The  Archbishop  of  Canterbury,  the  Most Revd.  Dr Rowan  Williams; the   Archbishop  of  Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor; Primate of the Armenian Church of Great Britain, Bishop Nathan Hovhannisian, and Free Churches Moderator, the Reverend David Coffey - is the subject of Bethlehem - No room for Peace - a one hour documentary which has its first screening this coming  Sunday, 7th  Jan 2007  at  10.45 pm on  ITV1.  The documentary contains personal reflections from each of the four church leaders and exclusive footage of their time in Jerusalem and Bethlehem. 

The documentary is a co - production by Feed the Minds and Salt Pictures 

Building Fund News

Very many thanks to all who contributed to the various efforts over the last few weeks.  The commission for ‘Chocoholics’ sales was £82.00.  The Chocoholic raffle raised £77.00 and the donations in lieu of Christmas cards was a magnificent £120.00

We look forward to your continued support in 2007 and will have a new programme of events for you soon. 

Home Missions 

The Coffee morning on December 30th in aid of Home Missions raised £70 plus £17 for the Church.  Many thanks to all who helped or attended.

Please would all Home Mission box holders return their boxes to Chris Lewis for the annual opening.  The Home Missions annual meeting is on February 22nd 2007 (Thursday) at 7.30 pm.  The speaker is Rev. P. Clarke and the annual report will be given .This is an open meeting and all are welcome.

Home Mission Sunday is February 18h and the preacher is Rev. P. Clarke. 

Sunday Morning Refreshments 

The list for the next few weeks is now on the notice board by the Community Room door.  If you and  a friend or organisation are able to help, please enter your name by your chosen date.

Ladies Group

On Wednesday 10th January at 7.30pm the Ladies Group starts the New Year with a Social Evening and Plate Supper.  New faces always welcome.

Methodist Relief and Development Fund 

The final amount for this years (2006) Christmas Charity Collection is £352.43 a marvellous result.  £110 of this was gift aided which means a further £30 can be added.  My thanks to everyone who contributed for their on going generosity and support.
