The turning point in history occurred one night in Bethlehem, and shepherds spread the glorious news the angel had announced to them.

NCH League of Light Boxes

I am delighted to report that the total collected in N.C.H boxes this year is £647.28.  Nearly £200 of this is Gift Aided so there will be more to add in due course.  This is an excellent result and my sincere thanks to all box holders for their unfailing generosity and support.

The Advent Ring

This year our Advent Ceremony has several layers of meaning. As the candles on the Advent Ring are lit on each of the Sundays in December we shall be invited to reflect on:

The Advent Hope as it is explored in the readings from the Prophet Isaiah

The coming of the “Light of the World” as we meditate on various sources of light and pick up themes for our prayers

The traditional pattern of remembering: the Advent Hope; the Word of the Prophets; the ministry of John the Baptist; and the role of Mary, as we sing a short verse to accompany the lighting of each candle.

We hope that this season of Advent will be a time for reflection and preparation as we wait for the coming of the Christmas celebrations and look forward to the coming of God’s Kingdom of justice and peace for all people.

Komera Project

Christine Murray will be going with a party of young people from the District to work in Rwanda on the Komera project next August.  The cost to each person is over £1,000 and the Church has donated £100 to her but if individuals wish to help please give it to Derek Whittingham - because you can Gift Aid your donation.

Thank You

Dewi

Building Fund News

On  Friday  December 7th we  are  very privileged  to  have Nia  who  is a  highly  acclaimed Christian  folk  singer.  She will   be singing a wide range of songs including a Christmas selection.

On Friday December 14th there will be a concert by ‘One Accord’.  The choir came earlier in the year and we were rather disappointed by audience numbers as they were one of the best mixed – voiced we have had.  Please don’t miss out this time.

Book all the dates in your diary and make sure you view the posters for times and prices.

Thanks Tina

Christmas Fayre 2007

May I say a big and very sincere ‘thank you’ to all who helped at or supported the Fayre last Saturday when over £1,300 was raised for Church Funds.

The stall holders, who collected, displayed and sold their wares.  The refreshment team who worked tirelessly and efficiently to prepare and serve not only coffee but for a delicious dinner.

Derek and his helpers for getting everything out ready for us - and clearing up afterwards.

A great advertisement for commitment, dedication and team effort.

Tina
