Setting the scene... 

10 days for mission - you must be joking! Mission - sharing good news - is what the church exists for. So, here we go. A whole host of events have been organized, many of them based at Ketley, but this newsletter shows how you can be involved in the wider programme! So, come and join in - there’s lots to be part of.

We welcome at team under the leadership of Brenda Emms form Cliff College. Set in a beautiful part of Derbyshire, Cliff has a great tradition of training lay people for the work of mission. The methods have changed enormously over the years, but the message is the same.  Staying with folk in the Ketley/Hadley area, members of the team will be helping to run an after school club, sharing in assembly in local schools, and leading worship in some of our churches. They will be keen to get to know us.

These are challenging times for thoughtful people. So much in today’s world leads us to big questions: Is there any point o it all? Is there a God? Why is there so much suffering? What difference can I make? What happens after this life? Why do religious people do bad things?

These are ‘big issues’. Can anyone help us with them? Can we get ‘beyond the impossible’? Check it out this week! It should be good!

Meet the Team

A Circuit Meal - Friday 13th June 

Everyone is welcome to share in a meal with our guests form Cliff College. Details and invitation cards are in your local churches. There is no charge, though you will need to book via your local church so that we have some idea of numbers for catering.

Venue: Wellington Methodist Church - plenty of parking at church and nearby

Time: 7 for 7.30 p.m. 

Menu: Summer evening meal - cold meats, hot potatoes, salads, plus sweets.

Cost: Free, but an offering will be taken towards the costs of the 10 day programme

The Big Prayer Breakfast

More food is on offer the following morning at a Prayer Breakfast at Ketley Methodist Church. Base for most of the week’s day to day programme, we kick off with time for prayer. Breakfast served from 8.30 - 9.15 a.m. plus time to pray for the days ahead and more widely for the world in which we live.
